TIME TO STEP IT UP A NOTCH

So this was my original plan:

March 4- March 24

Field Trip#1,  Exam#1, 3 audio project,  present/tutorial #1=115

March 25- April 10

Field Trip#2, Critique #1, Service#1, 4 audio project= 120

April 11- May 5

2 audio project, comments, present/tutorial#2, critique #2= 110

May 6- May 20

Service#2, audio project, Exam#2= 65

But as you can see it did not work out the way I want it to. So the first period is gone no need for me to look back on that is there, MOVING ON!!!! Now that I learn about Protools and still learning about Audacity my projects as been coming along fine but now its time to step it up a notch with a new thing call MIXX which Prof Michael introduce to us and best believe I will be using this with the other stuff. Now the new plan goes as follow:

March 25- April 10

Field Trip#1, Exam #1, 4 audio projects, Critique#1, present/tutorial #1= 150

April 11- May 5

Exam#2, 2 audio projects, Field Trip#2, ds106 repo#1, Service#1=105

May 6- May 20

audio project, Critique#2, Service#2, ds 106 repo#2 = 60

Comments is for each period, no worries for that one

Random Attendance: I got one down, probably two or three more to go..

LET US SEE WHERE THE REST OF THIS PERIOD WILL TAKE ME AND HOPE I REACH MY GOAL…WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!

GUESS THIS SONG!!!!!

FOR THIS AUDIO PROJECT I have to take six different songs and ensemble them into a single piece. People have to guess the six songs I have used but in this case you do not have to case because I am going to tell you anyways. The only rules was not to repeat the same songs, do not use covers, and John Cage’s 4’33 is not a song but who cares about John Cage.

I decided to use audacity and knowing me I been having problems using audacity but I finally had it down pack YAY!!!!! So I decided to use my favorite artist of all time.

I love there songs. Also, I decided to use Gospel and R&B for the six different songs. I took bits of pieces of the song that I found interesting and put it all together and what I came to realize each song deals with certain things. For Instance, Michael Jackson, Black Eye Peas, and Tyrese deals with love in their own way. With Hezekiah Walker, Jekalyn Carr, and tasha Cobbs talk about the love of God in their way. In each song I have experience and that is why I chose these songs

1) Hezekiah Walker- Every Praise

2) Michael Jackson- You Rock My World

3) Jekalyn Carr- Greater Is Coming

4) Black Eye Peas- Where Is The Love?

5) Tasha Cobbs- Break Every Chain

6) Tyrese- Stay

ACTION TIME HONEY!!!!!!!

I went on my first field trip to the museum and let me tell you this museum is like no other. What museum am I talking about? Museum of the Moving Image. Museum of the Moving Image opened in 1988 and the only museum that have everything from art to technology but before that the museum started back in 1970 where the foundation took control of the former Astoria Studios which was called The Astoria Motion Picture and Television Center Foundation.

Museum Of Moving Image

Everybody remember the Super Mario Bros that came out in 1985 for the Nintendo entertainment system. In 1985, according to the museum “it has breathed new life into the home video game industry. With the help of Super Mario Bros, the Nintendo sell 60 million units of the NESWP_20140328_004WP_20140328_003

We use different types of microphones weather its a Shure, Omnidirectional, Directional, Condenser, or any other type of microphones. So in the museum they have different types of microphones that was used in films, television shows and moreWP_20140328_009

Now the microphone that I recognized in this picture was the Shure, which in on the top to your left. This microphone is functioned by using time delay networks on sounds arriving at openings at the back of the mic making it control cancellation and producing a cardioid pattern. Also, the microphone is known to be on camera appearances in the 1950s. You probably this microphone used by a famous person who died a long time along Elvis Presley or in the 1950s  used for radio shows.elvis01 shr55arf

In 1913, the Motiograph 35mm Model 1A was introduced to the Enterprise Optical Company of Chicago which was discovered by Alvah C. Roebuck of Sears, Roebuck and Company. Who Alvah C. Roebuck? Just click on his name to find more information. Sears was started to sell Roebuck’s first motion picture projector, The Optigraphin 1898. The Optigraph can be used in Silent Film movie.WP_20140328_006

It was a great experience. Learning about the microphones, the film projector, the video games and much more I realize these things are incredible. Especially watching silent movies and only hearing the sound effects after every action that goes in the film. The one film I find funny was The Great Train Robbery  which came out in 1903 which was directed by Edwin Porter who was a former Edison Studios cameramen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKv-LMfu4AY

UNCONTROLLABLE LAUGHTER

Have your family or friends ever wonder why you laugh so crazy? Well I have those moments. For this audio assignment, you have to do a mashup that searches Freesound and Flickr for the same word. I decided to go and search on freesound for laughter. I did not only look for plain laughter.

I use Protools for the very first time in my life and it won’t be the last. For this recording I did not just want it to be plain so I decided to use the reverb to tune it up or should I say make it more spicy. I made a switch on the reverb so many times to get the proper decay, mix, gain for each laughter. I decided to use an evil laughter which go with the joker, the psychotic laughter with the man with the blood on his face, and the toddler for the baby.

IT’S GOSPEL TIME

For this Audio Project i decided to choose some of the greatest hit from this artist. The point of this project was to use audacity, pick a band, musician, or artist and create a mash-up what I consider to be some of their greatest hits. The artist  i chose was Hezekiah Walker, he is a Gospel Artist.

He have the greatest songs from his first album which came out in 1987 to his new album that came out in 2013.I used the Zoom to record the songs I wanted and it sounded fine.Zoom rec 2

I did not use Audacity because it was giving me a hard time when I try to combine the songs I wanted so I decided to use Adobe Audition CS6. I had to change the reverb on the CS6 to make it better but it did not seem that way. It sound like I am in an open space but I was not. This project did not turn out the way I wanted it to.

The songs I chose was:

1) Hold Out

2) It’s More Than That

3) Every Praise

4) I’ll Make It

5) Lift Him Up

YOU ARE THE ONE TO BE BLAME

The next audio post I chose was Teenage Angst The point of this assignment was to read either a letter, journal, or diary that you wrote when you was a teenager.  Have to add emotion and angst in the moment while recording yourself. I am not going to lie I wrote so many letter and journals when I was a teenager, so I was happy when I saw this aassignment.

That Pain

Before I started recording, I  decided to go on youtube to find a way to express my emotions before I read my journal. I typed in sound effects of sadness and this video caught  my attention and started to listen to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_Am4cHMBKM. This picture is part of the video that I love because it bring back memories between you and that person and you begin to cry.Black-White-EyeWhile listening to the music I started to read my journal to see if flows with it and it did. The recorder I use is the Tascam DR-100 Mk II. I use the Tascam to record the audio of the music and me reading. I recorded multiple times and listen to it on my headphones but it was low. So i tested it out today on the Sony headphones and it was good to me. I did make a few changes/editing with Adobe Audition CS6 to make it sound better.

WP_20140320_002

After doing all this editing and recording, I finally upload it to soundcloud. I feel at peace because I feel this is probably a better post I have made and this particular assignment made me express myself the way I want to.

Quote of the day

BobMarleyJudge

The first audio assignment i chose was Quote A Day from the DS 106 Audio Assignment listings. The assignment was to read your quote out loud that you chose and record it. You have to try and mimic the original quote and you can add your own feeling to it as well. The person I chose was Bob Marley because he is known as a legend from Jamaica and he is best known from his music such as “Red Wine”, “One Love” and much more. If you want more information on him, just click on his name and it will lead you right to his website.

I looked up the video on youtube to see if it is a song and the name of the song is Judged Not. I chose this quote because there are people in this world that would judge you on certain things but if they do it, you not supposed to judge them which is not fair. The only person that should judge you is God. I decided to record it on my tablet  from soundcloud. I had to delete a few times because I did not like it but I think this recording turns out good in my case.

Little Footsteps/Talk

Sennheiser-ME661http://tascam.com/content/downloads/products/718/e_dr-100mk2_om_va.pdf

Last Week Tuesday, me and partner used the tascam. AT first I thought it would be easy but it was not. So we turned on the tascam, started messing with the buttons on it. We looked in the back and realize that it have a mic gain switch, auto/limiter switch, and +48, speaker switch and more. We put on the headphones and tested the tascam and only the left ears was working so we played with the mic gain to see if we can make the right ear works as well. So we changed it to +48 for both sides to work. It has a low end filter. The mic we use was a condense mic not dynamic. In the recording we did students who were walking and talking. The type of microphone we used was sennheiser k6 to record.

At first it was hard trying to get the microphone to work, trying to understand it more before we can go around recording things. We have to set it up manually and let me say it is not easy. As we continue we started getting it piece by piece. When me and my members got it we decided to go to the cafeteria.

The sounds that you hear are people talking, people walking up the steps, you can hear their bags, and if you listen closely you can hear the cash register.
